The experience
was not just visual though! The orchestra, organ, and
choir, which we could not see from our standing place during the service,
filled the space magnificently. The music was majestic! There was also, what I found to be an over-whelming smell of incense. At the end of the service,
Jenna and I wandered forward to get a view of the balcony and were in awe at
the organ pipes - What a beautiful piece of art! - and got closer to the front
to better inspect the sculptures. Although I don't understand enough German to understand most of the service and scripture, I enjoyed the experience.
From there, the day developed into the usual sweatpants and homework Sunday. I am pleased with how productive I was! I also practiced piano for about an hour, which I always enjoy.
Since it was a rainy, dreary, cozy clothes day, it called for a dinner of roasted veggies. I chopped zucchini, squash, mushrooms, red onion, and a small potato, tossed them in olive oil, salt, and pepper, and threw them in the 200* C oven until they were soft and browning. Unfortunately I was stupid enough to grab the handle of the pan without an oven-mitt, and procured a pretty painful burn on two fingers. Thank goodness my roommate had some burn ointment to sooth the pain! The veggies were delicious, though!
