A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Today gave us all hope that the cold weather is not permanently setting in yet, which is a relief, as there are still outdoor activities I want to enjoy! It was a beautiful sunny day. Although there aren't as many trees to watch change color here as there are at home/Whitman, Vienna is actually one of the greenest capitols in Europe! In fact, half of the land within the city limits is green area. Of course, most of this land is outside of the city center, but there are still trees and parks where I walk every day.

Here's a photo of the Kaerntnerstrasse on my way home from psychology as the sun was beginning to set.

I do have one story to share from the day:

I was about five blocks from school this afternoon, waiting to cross at an intersection. I was looking around and observing people, as per usual, and saw a cyclist ride past me. I quickly realized that he was wearing a police uniform, this isn't something I see everyday (or ever) in the US, but I figured he was some sort of security guard that does his work mostly standing on street corners or walking around. I soon realized, though, that he was in the process of pulling a car over! How a bicyclist could have any control over whether the car actually pulls over or just drives off, I do not know. I was shocked, but as I looked around, it was clear that nobody else was paying any attention. I suppose that shows integrity on the part of the Viennese.

Well tomorrow is another day (with no mistakes in it), so I think I will head off to bed. Enjoy the green and wildlife around you today!
