A day in the beautiful town of Piran, and what a great day it was! I'll post photos tomorrow or Monday (it's a bit of a pain from my phone). It was a wonderful sunny, blue sky day, with plenty of chances to smell the sea, and sun soaking opportunities, all of which were taken advantage of and improved with espresso, croissants, and pizza.
We expected to start the day out with breakfast at our B&B, but our host apparently stayed out a bit later than we did last night, so instead we found a cafe in town where we could enjoy our breakfast on the sunny patio with a few people from the Piran community. We enjoyed a walk along the peninsula, explored the area aroun the adjacent St. George's church, climbed up into the towers of the old city wall, and clapped for a pair of newly married and rice covered Piranese on the Piaza.
The day continued in an equally relaxed meander, and I feel confident in my ability to make my way around Piran - if you walk downhill and far enough in one direction, you'll get to the ocean. But in all seriousness, the town is tiny, yet full of plenty of alleys and nooks to explore.
There is nothing better than a weekend at the seaside, soaking in the wonderful smells, except of course a sunny day at the seaside. Pretty near perfection.
