For some of you it is still Thursday, so I am going to pretend it isn't Friday morning, and fill you in on my day! As most Thursdays do, it started with the frustration and confusion of German 101. "The Frau" as we have began calling her, bless her soul, has really no idea how to be a teacher, let alone how to teach a foreign language. Our class has taken to guiding her through the session, telling her what would be most useful to do next. It's a rather unfortunate situation for everyone involved.
Fortunately, that was just 75 minutes at the beginning of my day, and the rest of the day did improve! I had my teaching internship this morning from 11 to noon, and today we read "Mr. Happy," which made everyone happy, of course, and then we worked on numbers. The hardest thing about English numbers for little German-speaking brains to understand is the spelling and reading aspect, which is probably the hardest part for English speaking children. We have some oddly spelled words in our language! It is also very difficult for some of them to say r's and th's. I am constantly having them repeat after me, until we all end up laughing. I do think they are improving!
The way home for Bischop-Faber Schule, all I could think about was a nap! So that's what came next, and it made me feel so much better, as naps almost always do.
I also had my piano lesson this afternoon, and although I had been dreading it since I had a difficult time with practicing this last week, it went quite well, and I feel like I am starting to understand and be able to apply (the difficult part) what she is telling me to do! I am going into this next week much more motivated to practice!
That's about it for my day. I hope all of your Thursdays went well! Much love.
