Pictures from the Weekend

And we're off to Milan! It was a beautiful flight over the Alps in the morning. We thought we would sleep after having woken up so early, but we couldn't stop looking out the window.

Our first stop was Simplon Park, and taking photos in front of the arch entrance.  We then walked through the park for a while, enjoying the sanctuary of fall nature in all its rustic colored glory.

Then we walked around the outside of the Castello Sforzesco (previously owned by the Sforza family).

This pedestrian-only street leading to Duomo (the Cathedral of Milan) reminded me of the Kärntnerstraße.

And there he is, Mr. Duomo himself. What an excellent representation of pure Gothic architecture! After enjoying a look around the inside, we climbed 250 steps for a view of the surrounding city.

A little church that we passed.

I liked the shape of this basilica. From the front or inside one wouldn't suspect this was what the backside would look like.

The Roman ruins in Milan are right by the Basilica. These columns were built by the Romans. Crazy!

Gelato!

Milan canals:

Dinner of carrots, bread, pesto, and pudding in the hotel.

Walking through the peoples' park just outside of the old city. Which included swinging and watching ducks! (Some of my pictures didn't load from Saturday, so I'll get those up later.)

Drinking chocolate. Who invented this stuff??

This is the ceiling Master Leonardo painted but probably never completed.

In the castle.

These European airports are rather confusing...
